如果你最近也搭上北京奧運的這股熱潮，或許你看過這位大陸當紅藝術家—艾未未，他擔任北京奧運主運動場「鳥巢」設計的中方顧問，卻因為不滿北京當局將奧運作為政治宣傳工具，而沒有提升北京民眾的生活素質，在媒體上公開批評大陸政府的做法。
艾未未的敢做敢言個性，也許跟他的背景有關，父親是中國最具影響力的詩人艾青，全家在文化大革命時期被流放到新疆。後來艾未未放棄北京電影學院的生活，一人跑到美國紐約學藝術，一待就是十二年。回到北京後，擔任前衛藝術刊物的主編，並在藝術、建築、古物領域有許多創作作品與收藏。
當然也有人批評艾未未的作品，甚至說他抄襲，今年艾未未率領1001個中國人來到世界上最重要的當代藝術展—德國卡塞爾文獻展，來展示他的最新作品「童話」，整個作品的概念是將1001位從未離開自己故鄉的中國各地民眾，帶到德國卡塞爾參加展覽，成為一件動態作品，這跟一些其他藝術家的作品創作概念可能有相似之處，但艾未未的這個作品在文件展展出期間產生了別人所沒有的廣泛回響，德國媒體大幅報導，許多展覽期間在德國的中國人特別能感受的到，甚至德國車站都特別為參與這個計畫的人提供專車載送。
艾未未的作品常帶有中國的文化歷史感與數量龐大的物件裝置，儘管有人認為是這些少數掌握龐大資源的藝術家才能做出的創作規模，但我還是希望自己在觀賞作品的時候，可以只把創作者想要表達的意念與形象的感受留在心中，至於其他的就當作是茶餘飯後的八卦話題就好了。
